Concept Design work for Disney's The Lion King Movie 2019

Here are some early days work I did on the 2019 The Lion King movie. I worked with production designer James Chinlund to sculpt some environments before handing it over to previz. I even managed to take a crack at a few key frames.

Full disclosure, it's been a few years, and originally the environments were sculpted in Zbrush and brought into Maya for layout. The video renders you see are recent Unreal Engine imports that weren't used during the production. During the actual production however, Unity was used by MPC to help previz the movie, which was a fairly new process at the time.

Seeing the writing on the wall, I made it a point to incorporate real time rendering technology into my process. Six months later on a different project, I picked up Unreal Engine.
