The Hangover Part III

A lot of people think working as a professional concept artist in film is a lot of cool robots, spaceships, sci-fi corridors, and monsters. Nobody likes to talk about the reality of the bread & butter work that is the set illustration. Behold, keeping it as real as I can be, the following are a bunch of set illustrations I did for the movie The Hangover Part III. Believe it or not, these sets were all built on stage at Warner Bros. I had a great time working with production designer Maher Ahmad and his art department. It was a pity that the box office didn't reciprocate the joy of working on the movie.

A vegas pawn shop. This one took forever because it was to help set decorators figure out how to decorate the shop. Illustrations like these are surprisingly tedious.

Another view of the tequila bar with Chow karoake'ing "Hurt". This one, with all the set dec, was really tedious to do.

Believe it or not, they rebuilt the hallway from an earlier Hangover movie because they could no longer get permissions for the original Pasadena house they had previously used.

This was perhaps one of the vegas suites they were going to rent for the movie. I worked with set decorator Gene Serdena to figure out the furniture they were going to get.
